Sync Tool - SQL Server Encryption
Data between the Mobile Sync tool and the Symmetry Mobile server can be encrypted by using a certificate and a secured connection (https). SQL Server can also be configured so data between the database server and the Mobile Sync tool application is not sent over a network in plain text (encrypted).
A Server Authentication certificate is required with a common name of the fully qualified domain name of the machine SQL server is installed on. If a local certificate authority is present on the same network as SQL, follow the instructions in the Sync Tool - Generating the Certificate section. If a certificate authority is not present, a certificate will need to be obtained from a trusted certificate supplier.
