Symmetry Mobile – Setup and Usability Guide

Sync Tool - Considerations

  • The Mobile Sync “database” has to always be present on the same SQL server instance as Symmetry.

  • The Mobile Sync “service” can be present on another machine to Symmetry if a domain is present, in a workgroup environment the Mobile Sync “service” has to be present on the same machine as Symmetry.

  • You cannot incorporate 32Bit and 63Bit ACS (Access Control System) tokens in the same sync service instance.

  • The Sync Tool is restricted to Windows Authentication only; local SQL users (e.g. “SA”) is not currently supported.

  • Uses the Data Export table to sync cards and photos from Symmetry, and the Data Import table to sync photos to Symmetry. The Symmetry Data Connect module is required in order to use the Mobile Sync Tool.

  • Requires an account to be specified when installing that has permission to create databases, it is recommended to use the existing Symmetry services account, as it will already be present in the ACS Admin / Service Group.

  • The Sync Tool Sends the Facility Code of every credential to a 63-bit ACS on Symmetry Mobile, while withholding it from a 32-bit ACS.

  • The Sync Tool does not support the use of multiple ACS tokens. If a New installation has been done, then only 1 ACS token can be added to the Sync Tool. If an upgrade has occurred on an environment with multiple ACS tokens, then the first ACS token within the database will be used to send credentials to the Mobile Credential Server.
