Symmetry Mobile – Setup and Usability Guide

Important Encryption Considerations

  • With the 63Bit credential format the Card Number, Customer (or facility code) and the credential issue level are used in combination to gain door entry for standard Symmetry systems. For Symmetry Homeland systems, the Card number Credential Number and the Credential Issue level are used.

  • Issue levels: Although issue levels can be optional depending on the Symmetry system configuration, it is a mandatory requirement when adding credentials that use 63Bit Access Control Systems in the Symmetry Mobile Admin portal.

  • When creating credentials for Symmetry systems that do not use issue levels, save the credential with a 0 in the issue level field.

  • It is recommended to use 63Bit on a production / live environment.

  • You are unable to use encrypted Readers using randomized keys with more than one ACS (Access Control System). This is due to the randomized encryption keys encoded at the reader being specific to that ACS.

  • To change readers from a 32Bit ACS to a 63Bit ACS the readers will require factory resetting to factory default settings.

  • It is not possible to change an ACS from 32Bit to 63Bit or vice-versa. If a change is required a new ACS will need to be configured.
